First DAAD-Guest Lecturer in Detmold, 2014

The architect Prof. Dr. Betina Tschiedel Martau from the partner university Universidade Federal de Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre (Brazil) is the first guest lecturer funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). She represented the Chair Human Centered Lighting Design and offered the elective course titled “Exploring light and darkness” dealing with the perceptive levels and qualities of light. Together with Prof. Dr. Uta Pottgiesser she conducted the Detmold Summer Academy „Facades meet Interiors“. In her research and as a partner of the research unit“ Perception Lab” she concentrated on the influence of light on humans. A joint research proposal with Detmold delves into the lighting concepts for underground stations: “This is a current assignment in Brazil, and in Germany there are excellent examples, companies and competencies in that field”, said Tschiedel Martau.
