| Opening up the teaching realm to aspects of research makes the use of synergies possible. The creativity of the students is used for research tasks, and at the same time, contact is created during the study period between industry and the university. In this way, companies and institutions can participate in the research results, or, by raising their own questions and tasks, contribute to product, spatial or environmental optimisation in cooperation with the University. |
| Major Foci of Research (MFR)Two mutually complementary main foci of research (MFR) currently exist in the area of architecture, interior design and civil engineering at the University of Applied Sciences: The ConstructionLab and the PerceptionLab. While the MFR Perception Lab makes the user the focal point of its research (human centred design), the MFR Materials and Building Shells complements this by a product-oriented approach (product centred design) which, among other things, covers the area of prototype construction and testing technology. Thus, it is possible for the University to accompany and support the entire development chain of innovative materials, products and spaces by research, started with the idea and continuing through model tests and the production of prototypes, all the way through to the phase of engineering tests.

| Individual ResearchThere is also individual research on various topics and projects at the Faculty of Architecture and Interior Design School. For cooperative projects of individual research click here. |
| Research OfficeThe main foci of research "Construction Lab" and "Perception Lab" have been moved to new locations within Building Nr. 4 (Bülowblock). The new Prototyping Lab is now in room 4K04, next to the PG-Atelier. Aside the digital planning tools, there is "physical" tooling available to realize new designs and proposals: - CNC milling centre - LaserCutter - FDM System (Rapid Prototyper) - Prototyping Lab - Workshop for Display Modells - Joinery Workshop |
