International Office
Further Information about your education in Germany can be obtained from the International Office's webpage.
Status at Hochschule OWL
Please notice that you will NOT be listed as a student at Hochschule OWL, but as member. This is the case due to the post-graduate course and its legal status within the Universities' regulations in Germany. This administrative fact does not affect the accredited title as M.Eng., that will be granted after successfull completion of the course.
Additional study achievment
Since 2011 there is the need of proove for additional study achievment in equivalence of 30 CTS points (one term). This additional study achievment can be obtained from imputation of achievements within other Bachelor and/or Masterstudies, or from imputation of professional skills and experience. (see §3ff M-PO)
Apllication for Visa / International bank account
All Non-EU-Members need a visa for the duration of their time in Germany. To apply for such a visa, a bank account at Deutsche Bank is needed. To do so it can take up to six weeks. After the opening of that account, you need to contact the embassy for an appointment. Please be aware of those time schedules for your preparations for the visit in Germany. In general a certain amount of money is requested on that account to enable your studies here.
In some cases it maybe even makes sense to start with the appointments for both even before the receipt of the acceptance letter for the IFDC course.
Additional Visa requirements
The conference modules (M3, M5, M8) will be held at the venues of our partnering Universities in different european countries. The modules are compulsory, so the group has also to travell to those places. In some cases an additional visa is needed for the travelling. This will also cause some extra charges for the participants.
Secondary Expenses
Next to the tution fee secondary expenses will occur from lectures and courses that are not beeing held on our campus in Detmold. There is usually a small compensation from the University for excursions and field-trips, but still expenses for travelling, accomodation and living will occur druing the studies. We allways try to keep those expenses as small as possible.
Society of Facade Engineering
With your studies in our Mastercourse IFDC you have the opportunity to apply as student-meber at the Society of Facade Engineering (SFE). After successfull completion of the course this status can be raised to "Member" or "Associate".
