Master’s Programme in Interior Architecture

Master’s Programme in Interior Architecture
The four-semester Master’s Programme in Interior Architecture is designed to enable students to address the phenomena, functions and interpretations of space in a deeper, artistically oriented manner. The Detmold School makes possible a high level of theoretical, artistic and technical-scientific knowledge and skills, not only through the mandatory programme in human, cultural, and engineering sciences, but also by means of enhanced training in the artistic methods and principles of “staging space”, of lighting in architecture, of colour design, and of the design of spatial facilities with furniture and equipment.
Central to the study is work on complex projects, with the main emphases:
• Domestic Design, i.e. the design of spaces, furniture and products for interculturally and multi-culturally varied lifestyles, with particular consideration for light, colour and material
• Corporate Design, i.e. the design of spaces and facilities for information, communications and interaction, for corporate and brand presentations, corporate identity, virtual reality and multimedia productions
• Event Design, i.e. staging of representative and experiential spaces, interior-design environments, and scenography for festivities, exhibitions, and cultural and theatrical events.
In addition, there is a wide range of elective subjects from all areas of the study programme, which permit the development of individual study profiles.
