Goal of study / competences:

Besides concept-making, the practical knowledge of façade constructions and their details are a very important aspects of a façade consultant’s work.

After already knowing and understanding the principal façade constructions and materials (M1) and also the requirements of comfort and dimensioning (M4) the students will identify and evaluate specific details and construction problems.

In mixed teams they will learn to develop, discuss and evaluate different versions of façade solutions and details related to target groups. By repeating this scheme with several tasks during this seminar / workshop based module the decision process and the presentation of results is trained.

Contents:

This module is focused on the decision process during façade design, planning and construction in the office and for aspects of assembling and maintenance on-site.

For preparation detailed knowledge of current glass production and façade manufacturing and mounting technology is provided. :

Principles of production and detail developments,
Variation of the material, finishes and coatings,
Variation of after-care.
Principles of planning, strategies,
Management-tools including CAD –CAM,
Manufacturing and process of production line,
Assembly on site is related to: on site tolerances, just in time handling, problems according to other trades, assembling etc.
