As a Civil Engineer you are prepared for the constantly changing demands and requirements in the business world and are responsible, often in a management function, for a variety of tasks in a range of different business sectors.

Scope of activities:

  • Cost accounting, tendering, operations scheduling and invoicing

The following fields of study are available:

  • Operational Construction Management: building all types of constructions demands well-grounded knowledge of building process engineering, construction management with project management, the building and construction industry and building costs as well as construction contracts. In addition responsibility must be taken for occupational health and safety and for the environment. 
  • Construction Engineering: conceptual design and calculation of all types of constructions ( stonework, construction with wood, steel and reinforced concrete). This includes the planning of civil engineering structures such as halls, bridges, tanks, towers as well as the construction and dimensioning of high rise buildings including the relevant structural-physical approval and certification. 
  • Traffic and Transport Engineering: includes infrastructure measures such as urban and development planning (regional policy, zoning plans, open green space plans, land development plans), specialist planning of facilities for flowing and stationary traffic in road construction as well as facilities for rail and air transportation. Important tasks in this process are: feasibility studies, environmental impact studies and optimising procedures. 
  • Water Management Engineering: the field of urban water management with water supply includes the planning and monitoring of water resources management and ecological measures, waterway construction and navigable waterway construction (rivers, canals, harbours and ports) as well as supplying drinking water e.g. using dams. Waste management, waste-disposal technology and landfill technology belong to the area of sewage technology. An important task in these processes is the consideration of environmental and energy aspects.
