Bachelor Degree Programme Landscaping and Green Space

Brief Outline

The Bachelor degree programme Landscaping and Green Space Management is an undergraduate 8 semester fulltime study programme, which can be done in the classical way or as part of the dual system i.e., by combining an apprenticeship as a gardener specializing in the area of garden design and landscaping. Students graduate with a degree qualification Bachelor of Engineering in the field of Landscaping and Green Space Management.
Central characteristics of the study programme are, on the one hand, the endeavour to connect professional practice orientation closely with the specialist modules, projects and work placement semesters and simulations. As a result students are provided with a foundation for a smooth crossover to the profession as a skilled employee or manager in landscaping and green space management. On the other hand, the course of studies and programme content is structured from start to finish in the four fields of competence for this sector; operations, care management, construction as well as market and soft skills. Especially with the latter, the social and communicative skills of the students are developed and enhanced.
Current research within the field of competence aims to enhance teaching and to constantly develop imparted content on the courses.
The spectrum of professions open to graduates ranges from management positions at various hierarchy levels in garden, landscaping and sport facilities construction at home or abroad to management positions in public service green space management, to management and collaboration in the area of object planning and site supervision in landscape architect offices, to work as an assessor/surveyor or as a responsible member of staff in professional or special interest associations, chambers, professional organizations or inspecting authorities.
