TIGER-Chip from Lemgo
Under the umbrella of the CENTRUM INDUSTRIAL IT the Institute Industrial IT of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University and the Fraunhofer Competence Center Industrial Automation in Lemgo developed the first single-chip solution for Real-time Ethernet PROFINET.
The project was realizied with Phoenix Contact and Siemens AG, the world leader in industrial automation.
With a size of only 15 x 15 mm the TIGER-chip enables the cost-efficient and easy integration of Real-time Ethernet into automation devices.
Thanks to integrated optimized performance mechanism the automation of high-dynamic technical systems becomes now possible.
The chip supports our vision of an Internet for Smart Machines, where the information needed is available at the right time and at any place with the required quality. This vision is a prerequisite for adaptable machines, which can adjust itself to rapid changing customer requirements.
