Our collection

The library holds about 110,000 volumes and ca. 560 periodical subscriptions. Mostly you will find literature needed for the subjects taught at the HochschuleOstwestfalen-Lippe. The library is divided into four branches that are located in Lemgo, Detmold, Höxter and Warburg (the book collections in each location are matched with their respective fields of study).

Via the Digital library you can also access various online and CD-ROM databases. 

How to use the library

The library of the Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe provides literature and information for professors, tutors, students, and staff of the university. Furthermore all other citizens of the region can use the library. They have to pay an annual fee of 15 Euro, students of  universities located in Northrine Westfalia and pupils can use the library free of charge.

In order to get a library card you need to registrate yourself in our Identity Management System. Afterwards you present your student card and your valid identity card at the circulation desk to receive your library card

The regular loan period is 20 opening days; it can be renewed twice. The renewal can be requested five days before the loan period ends - stop by the library, call us, or renew your items yourself using our library catalogue

 

You'll get a notice about the end of your loan period via e-mail in advance (this service is without commitment).
Members of the university will be informed via their university-mail-adress (firstname.surname@hs-owl.de respectively firstname.surname@stud.hs-owl.de).  You can retrieve these mails using webmail.
