Ph.D. Program

Interested and selected graduates of a Master’s degree program are given an opportunity to do a Ph.D. doctorate in cooperation with one of our partner universities. This concept is known as a cooperative doctorate. It can be organized in one of the following manners:

  • Supervised doctorate within the framework of an employment relationship (scientific assistant)

Supervised doctorate

A supervised doctorate is usually funded through a research project that is carried out within the framework of a fixed-term employment as a scientific assistant. Besides working on your research project you adopt a number of additional tasks, for example acquisition of new research projects, supervision of student projects and giving teaching support. The topic of your doctoral thesis will be largely identical to your research tasks. If you are interested in a supervised doctorate, please contact a professor of our department.

Graduate School ISA

In collaboration with the University of Paderborn we offer doctorates at our Graduate School ISA. After enrolment in our doctoral program you receive a scholarship that enables you to work exclusively on your doctoral thesis.
