M.Sc. Information Technology

Entry Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mechatronics or another closely related field of study. Attention: Non-EU applicants who request admission to Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences are subject to special requirements.
  2. Evidence of a final German examination grade of 2.5 (German grade 'gut') or better.
  3. An excellent command of the English language proven by one of the following alternatives:

    1. evidence of at least 7 years of language classes at an institution of general education; as a general rule, performances should at least have been assessed as 'befriedigend' (3.0) in the last 2 years of classes. This is only applicable to European applicants.
    2. Bachelor's degree received in Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America,
    3. a German Bachelor's degree that has been accredited as English-speaking,
    4. the TOEFL test with a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based, IBT),
    5. the Cambridge ESOL Certificate (CPE / CAE with a minimum grade of B; FCE with a minimum grade of A),
    6. IELTS with a minimum grade of 6.5,
    7. evidence of at least one professional year spent in an English-speaking country (Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America).

This test should assist you in finding out whether the IT Master's program is the right choice for you. The only purpose is self assessment. You will find the solution in a separate file. Please do not betray yourself.

Application

  • EU citizens are requested to apply directly to the Admissions Office of Ostwestfalen Lippe University of Applied Sciences.
  • Non-EU applicants: With a basic change of our examination regulations, all non-EU applicants have to fulfil the attached requirements to get admission for a start of studies at Ostwestfalen Lippe University of Applied Sciences.
  • Applicants from outside the EU need to prove their academic ability in a special entrance test, i.e. an interview in English that will last about 20 minutes. Entrance tests are offered every year in early June. Interviews that cannot be held in person can be conducted by means of videoconferencing.
  • Please note: Applicants from outside the EU are requested to apply through the university service portal Uni Assist. Please search for "Lemgo" in the drop down menu of the application template.

Application Deadlines

  • Enrolment for the first semester is only possible for the next academic year which always starts in September.
  • Written applications of EU students are due on July 15.
  • Written applications of non-EU students have to be submitted by June 1 for the first or the third semester and by December 1 for the second semester.

Application Documents

An application to Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences needs to include the following documents:

  • the Bachelor's degree certificate or – if this is not available yet – a certified copy of passed examinations including information about the overall average grade,
  • English language proficiency documentation,
  • an English motivation letter including information about the specific talents and interests that explain the applicant's motivation to apply for this particular Master's degree program at Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences and about the applicant's reasons for identification with the vocational field of information technology.

Confirmation

Admitted EU students will be notified in writing of the status of their application by late July.
Admitted non-EU students will be notified in writing of the status of their application by late June.
