Research

Research goal of our laboratory computer science for engineering and production are efficient development processes for intelligent products. A major concern is for us to integrate optimally modern methods of software engineering (ALM) in the traditional product development process (PLM). The consistent managment of hardware and software data increases productivity and quality in the development and is thus a valuable contribution to increasing the competitiveness of industrial enterprises.

PLM/ALM for Smart Products

Smart Products are characterized by intelligence and communication skills. Due to ever shorter development cycles and an increasing individualization of these products, the cross-disciplinary product development wins based on consistent development data along the digital value chain is becoming increasingly important. In particular, still often to place separate hardware development processes (PLM) and software development processes (ALM) have to be integrated. On this topic under the designation "PLM/ALM" for Smart Products  research is carried out in the laboratory of computer science for engineering and production.

Specific priorities are:

  • Integrated hardware/software development
  • Lifecycle management of digital product
  • General requirements traceability from requirements specification to the design data, the source code and the verification and validation activities
  • Design and implementation of automated workflows

The research carried out under application of IT systems "Siemens Teamcenter" and "Polarion ALM".
