Zwei internationale Experten zu Besuch an der Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe

 

Am 24. Januar beginnt die Veranstaltungsreihe 2017 des Graduiertenzentrum.OWL. Wie bereits im Vorjahr findet in regelmäßigen Abständen eine Ringvorlesung statt, bei der internationale Experten Vorträge zu interdisziplinären Themen halten und sich anschließend mit dem Publikum austauschen können.  Die kommende Veranstaltung ist öffentlich und findet am Dienstag, 24. Januar ab 18 Uhr auf dem Campus in Detmold (Raum 3.103) statt. Hochschulexterne Besucherinnen und Besucher sind herzlich willkommen! Zu Gast sind internationale Experten aus Italien und den USA.

 

James Doerfler, AIA

Professor of Architecture, Director of Architecture Programs

International Interdisciplinary Interaction: Promoting collaboration across borders

James Doerfler is currently the Director of Architecture Programs at Philadelphia University. He has created the curricula for two new graduate programs and has participated and guided research on a number of topics including façade design and technology, lighting and high performance building.

Professor Doerfler has building envelope systems expertise with experience leading multi-disciplinary collaborative teams in practice and academia. James has team-taught interdiscipli-nary classes and this innovative joint teaching and research has been presented at multiple national and international conferences. These classes have received numerous awards and grants including: Autodesk Worldwide BIM Experience Award, Arup Foundation Award, and the NCARB Award 2010. James was previously on the faculty and in administrative roles at the University of Technology, Sydney, and at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He is a board member of the Façade Tectonics Institute and the International Association of Structures and Architecture.

James has more than 25 years of international practice experience along with his academic experience. He has worked with Raphael Vinoly, Richard Gluckman and Fox & Fowle in New York City and PTW in Sydney. His projects have included work in the United States, China, Spain, Switzerland and Australia. James is a registered architect in New York and New South Wales Australia.

 

 

Andrea Valle

Researcher CIRMA – StudiUm, Università degli Studi di Torino

Between Humanities and Technology. Doing Research in Multimedia at CIRMA, University of Torino

Andrea Valle (04/11/1974) is a researcher at the Department of Humanities of the University of Torino where he teaches Audiovisual theory and multimedia and Computer music. He gained a Laurea degree in Sciences of Communication at the University of Torino, and then received a Ph.D in Semiotics from the University of Bologna. He has written three books (respectively on musical notation, digital audio and film analysis) and has contributed many papers in the fields of semiotics, computer music and musicology, soundscape, multimedia, cinema. He is one of the founder of CIRMA (Interdepartmental Centre for Multimedia and Audiovideo) of the University of Torino, which aims at defining an integrate perspective for the study of multimedia, merging human and computational sciences. He is a member of the Virtual Electronic Poem (VEP), an EU-granted project which has reconstructed in virtual reality the Poème électronique (1958) by Le Corbusier, Edgar Varèse, Iannis Xenakis. He is a member of the scientific board of the AIMI (Italian Association for Musical Informatics). 

 

As a composer/musician, his artistic output includes music for acoustic instruments, electronic music, improvisation, music for theatre with La Fura dels Baus’ founder Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca, multimedia interactive installations.
