Guest Professorship in Japan – Professor Carsten Röcker received JSPS-Bridge Fellowship

(Lemgo, 13.09.2017) inIT Professor Carsten Röcker accepted the invitation of Professor Norimichi Ukita (Tokyo Institute of Technology) and Professor Shin’ichi Konomi (Kyushu University) and spent five weeks of this semester’s non-lecture period in Japan. The BRIDGE Fellowship Program of the German JSPS Alumni Association supported his stay.

Neue Stiftungsprofessur stärkt interdisziplinäre Forschung

In Ostwestfalen-Lippe entstehen neue Synergien: zwischen Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft, aber auch zwischen den Themenfeldern industrielle Informationstechnik, Mechatronik, Antriebs- und Energietechnik. Möglich wird dies durch eine neue Stiftungsprofessur für Vernetzte Automatisierungssysteme an der Hochschule OWL. Finanziert wird sie von der KEB Automation KG aus Barntrup und der Stiftung Standortsicherung Kreis Lippe mit 500.000 Euro für fünf Jahre.



Westphalian Business Excellence Day 2017

(Lemgo, 06.09.2017) Within the course of the Westphalian Business Excellence Day the Working Group Production Technique under the management of Walter Müller visited SmartFactoryOWL on 06.09.2017 with about 70 participants from industry, research institutes and science. After a guided tour through SmartFactoryOWL, Prof. Volker Lohweg, Director inIT, held a speech about Digitalization in production. Especially the application of Cyber-Physical Systems was discussed: “Once again this meeting emphasized the particular importance of the SmartFactoryOWL”, resumed Prof. Lohweg.

The Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of OWL University of Applied Sciences is a leading research institute in the fields of Industrial Communication, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Analysis in Automation – it is also well-known for its excellent vocational training and education. Apprenticeships as Information Clerks or IT Specialists are offered since 2012.



Papers for the conference KommA 2017 selected!

Program committee and reviewers selected 24 contributions for presentation at the conference "Communication in Automation (KommA)". The conference chairs Prof. U. Jumar and Prof. J. Jasperneite are delighted about the high quality of the contributions and hope on a lively participation in the state capital Magdeburg.



Students Make Art for Burning Man – With Support from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

At the end of August 13 Students from three departments of OWL University of Applied Sciences will travel to Nevada, USA. For the “Burning Man” Festival the art object “Desert Eyes” which is four meters high was built. They are the only German team that has received an invitation and seed capital worth $10,000. inIT Professor Carsten Röcker supervises the team in the field of Interaction Design and User Experience. Five students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences are working on an interactive lighting concept.
