The Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of the OWL University of Applied Sciences in Lemgo carries out research in the field of industrial informatics and industrial automation for Cyber-Physical Systems and is situated within one of the most important clusters of machine engineering and industrial electronics in Germany.


Students Make Art for Burning Man – With Support from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

At the end of August 13 Students from three departments of OWL University of Applied Sciences will travel to Nevada, USA. For the “Burning Man” Festival the art object “Desert Eyes” which is four meters high was built. They are the only German team that has received an invitation and seed capital worth $10,000. inIT Professor Carsten Röcker supervises the team in the field of Interaction Design and User Experience. Five students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences are working on an interactive lighting concept.

OWL University of Applied Sciences and Leo-Sympher Vocational College Start Cooperation

Promoting young talents: Professor Uwe Meier, Dean of the Department for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and Knut Engels, Director Leo-Sympher Vocational College signed a cooperation agreement. The close cooperation shall be established into a future-oriented basis. Pupils and teachers can attend classes and take exams at OWL University.



Intelligent Assistant Systems for Mobile Applications in Industry: Researchers from Lemgo Develop Solutions for Middle Class

(Lemgo, 21.07.2017) Intelligent Assistant Systems will (r)evolutionize the working world of the future. Whereas big companies already apply assistant systems, the potential for SMEs is not yet sufficiently utilized. This is because of the multifarious application possibilities of assistant systems which demand a high flexibility of the systems. The innovation of the researchers from Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of OWL University: An assistant system for the middle class that counts on mobility, intelligence and modularity.



International Exchange Programs Planned: German-Japanese Cooperation at inIT

In the course of the BMWi-funded tendering of German-Japanese cooperations two representatives of industry and science visited Lemgo in July to talk about Industry 4.0 and future joint projects with researchers from Institute Industrial IT (inIT). An international research project and a scientific exchange about “Smart Factories” was planned. Also students shall benefit from this collaboration – with e.g. exchange semesters at Tokushima University or OWL University.



SmartFactoryOWL in Lemgo develops into „Real-Lab“: Fraunhofer Lemgo and OWL University Are Members of the International Network “ENoLL”

In June SmartFactoryOWL became member of the European network of the so called “Living Labs”. The interactive approach for developing solutions for Industry 4.0 shall be expanded on an international level: As everyday experts employees become involved in research activities, idea development and implementation of new technologies of the research institutes from Lemgo.



Honoured: inIT Researcher Won the Best Paper Award at PESARO Conference 2017

The seventh “International Conference on Performance, Safety and Robustness in Complex Systems and Applications - PESARO“ took place from 23rd to 27th April 2017 in Venice, Italy. inIT researcher Mrs. Sahar Torkamani represented very successfully the inIT at the conference. By presenting her conference contribution, the scientist from Lemgo won the Best Paper Award. The conference was organized by the International Academy, Research and Industry Association (IARIA).
